Our MLA on the Kelowna Apple Triathlon
MLA Steve Thomson wrote an inspiring article about the Kelowna Apple Triathlon in the Capital News (July 26, 2012). He noted that the Apple Triathlon has been a training ground for Olympians, and encourages the community to support this event by donating some time and volunteering for race weekend. In Memoriam: Jennifer Hindle
It is with deep regret and sadness that we have learned that Jennifer Hindle has passed away. As many of you know, Jennifer's husband, former mayor John Hindle, started the Apple Triathlon back in 1983. Jennifer was involved every year for 29 years and continued to be involved even after her husband passed away. She was very proud of how the event has caught on and grown over the years. She loved to see and meet the people who came to participate in the Apple as either a racer or as a volunteer. She always seemed to have a reason to smile. She was very inspirational and will be greatly missed.
Simon Whitfield - Olympic Gold and Silver medal winner - about our race:
"The Apple Triathlon was my first Olympic distance race back in 1992. It remains, to this day, one of my favorites: held in a wonderful city, with great people, incredible scenery and with the generous support of the city, the people of Kelowna and the incredible volunteers. The National Team along with triathletes from all across Canada can't wait to get to Kelowna, enjoy the sunshine, spend some money!!!! and go home to rave about your wonderful home in the Okanagan."
We acknowledge and
thank the BC Government for its support.
