Canada selects Kelowna Apple Triathlon as
the 2008 Canadian Triathlon Championships
Triathlon Canada and its Events Committee are
pleased to advise you of the selection of the
Kelowna Apple Triathlon as the 2008 Canadian
Triathlon Championships. The 2008 event will include
the Aquathlon Championships, Junior Sprint
Championships, Age Group Sprint Championships and
Olympic Distance Championships. Triathlon will also
recommend this event as an ITU Continental Cup. The
event is scheduled to take place on August 16 – 17,
2008. It will be a qualifier for the 2009 Triathlon
Championships in Gold Coast, Australia.
Additionally, the 2007 Kelowna Apple Triathlon will
have 2 spots for the FISU University Triathlon
Championships to be held in Erdek, Turkey on June 27
– 28, 2008. Visit the website

FINA Open Water
Swim added to events
New this year is the addition of the
FINA Open Water Swim with
a 1.5 and a 5.0 km swim competition, immediately
before and after the Junior Elite swim on Saturday.

experience and the computer software needed to get
and properly display all your photos.
2010 Legacies
Supports International Triathlon Competition in
Kelowna
2010 Legacies Now, through its Hosting BCTM program, is investing $10,000 in the 2007 Pushor Mitchell Kelowna Apple Triathlon and the ITU Pan America Continental Cup, which will take place in Kelowna this August. This funding is part of an overall investment of $271,500 in 11 communities hosting 20 major sporting events around B.C.

We have roll-down for
National Team qualifying spots
Our event is a qualifier for both
Hamburg Germany (in 2007) and Vancouver
(June 2008).
In addition we have received the following
exciting announcement from Tri Canada:
"After reviewing the matter with the
Events Committee, our President, Stephen Holmes &
our Executive Director, Alan Trivett, we are pleased
to announce the Kelowna Apple Triathlon as the
Western Roll Down Qualification Race for the 2008
Canadian Triathlon World Championships team.
The Kelowna Apple Triathlon will act as the final
qualification race for the 2008 team and will
provide an opportunity to fill all unused
qualification spots from the Western Canada
qualification races in addition to the 4 spots
previously awarded to your event. Upon completion of
the Vancouver & Edmonton qualification events our
National Office will confirm with you the remaining
spots per age group available at the Kelowna Apple
Triathlon."

Ironman Champion
Peter Reid at Silent Auction, Dinner and Dance, with
the Cruzeros
 We
are very excited to have Peter Reid, 3 time World
Ironman Champion, sponsored by Firelight Lodge at
Silver Star Ski Resort, as our feature speaker at
our April 20th Silent Auction, Dinner and Dance,
with the Cruzeros.
Hill added to
Sunday Bike Course
Last year we added a hill to the Sunday
bike course, which was very well received. We get to
keep it again this year! For those of you who missed
it, it is up very scenic Knox Mountain,
approximately 600m at a 6% grade.
Adult Sprint Race
added to Saturday events
This year we are very pleased to add an
adult sprint race on the Saturday. It will be a 1
loop lake swim, a 4 loop flat bike course and a 2
loop run along Okanagan Lake
